Duct Cleaning Scam Calls Exposed

The Duct Cleaning Calls You Get May Not Be From Vacu-Man—Here's Why

Hello, folks! It’s Adam Oldfield, the President of Vacu-Man Furnace and Duct Cleaning. Today, I’m addressing a serious issue affecting our community— duct cleaning scam calls exposed from overseas impostors impersonating legit companies like ours. Oh yeah, even I get those calls, can you believe it? 😂 For an in-depth look, you might want to check out our article on how to identify a scam call.

The Phone Call That Wasn’t From Us

About a year ago, I had a customer inform me that we were running late for a 2 p.m. appointment. Duct cleaning scam calls exposed can often be misleading. Plot twist: we had no such appointment! 😲 After some digging, it turns out she was lured by a Facebook ad that impersonated Vacu-Man, offering a duct cleaning special for just $110. Curious? We’ve got an article that digs into how fake online ads work.

Ah, the saga continues! Just this past week, in September 6, 2023, my phone buzzes at 3 PM with another “you’re late” call for a job that was supposedly booked with us at Vacu-Man. The twist? I was never booked, but someone was claiming to bill only $110 in my company’s name! Yup, you guessed it—Kalair Home Service Inc. was behind this rerun. 🤦‍♂️ When I confronted them, they conveniently blamed an advertising company for the mix-up. But don’t be fooled; I spoke directly with the individual, and he still had the audacity to claim he’s subcontracting my company, which couldn’t be further from the truth. Déjà vu or what? These duct cleaning scam calls exposed can be quite deceptive!

The Real Culprit: Overseas Marketing Services

Eventually, I had the unexpected opportunity to meet the so-called “Vacu-Man” face-to-face. This individual was associated with a legitimate duct cleaning operation based out of Brampton, which unfortunately had engaged an overseas marketing service. The core issue here was particularly troubling—they had appropriated our respected name, Vacu-Man, a brand that has been built on four decades of family-run integrity and credibility, all without our explicit consent! This unauthorized use of our identity is not only a legal grey area but also a moral dilemma, as it exploits the trust we have cultivated with our community.

It’s important to highlight that the quality service provided by our licensed gas technicians cannot possibly be matched for a mere $99. At Vacu-Man, we are committed to supporting our employees with fair living wages, which reflects the high standard of work we deliver. The deceptive duct cleaning calls that utilize our name at such low prices not only mislead customers but also severely undercut the local industry standards. Duct cleaning scam calls exposed using our name unfairly undercut local standards.

Local Impersonators: It’s a Real Problem

In one particular instance, a company called Kalair Home Service Inc. claimed to be a subcontractor of Vacu-Man. And get this: the same guy was caught doing this in Edmonton! 🤦‍♂️ A quick Google search showed that the business is registered in Canada, but they don’t even have a website. We dig deeper into this issue in our article about how to vet a local service. Beware of these duct cleaning calls that seem too good to be true!
